One of the most momentous decisions in Honda Motor Co.'s recent history - whether to sell pickups in the United States - basically was decided by two guys in a meeting room.
Gary Flint... walked into a meeting with Honda's director for North American sales, Michiyoshi Hagino, and presented a business plan for building Honda's first U.S. pickup.
"Seven minutes into my presentation, he grabbed the paper out of my hand," Flint recalls of Hagino. "He says, 'You can stop reading now. The answer is yes.' And then he sent me home to do it."
That's how they do things at Honda.
