A New Zealand pilot reported that when his plane had engine trouble, he ditched it in the ocean, escaped the sinking cabin, and swam to shore. No trace of the plane was found. Until it turned up undamaged and hidden in a shipping container. Doh!
So if you were thinking about pulling the old "my plane sank without a trace so give me lots of insurance money" trick, maybe you should reconsider.
